Scooter maintenance: everything you need for a good service
Regular maintenance keeps your scooter reliable, safe, and in good condition for longer. Whether you perform the service yourself or just want to keep track of the wear parts, at Fresh Parts you’ll find all the components you need. From spark plugs and air filters to belts, variators, and brake fluid: filtered by your brand and model, so you’re sure it fits.
Spark plug: small part, big impact
A worn spark plug produces a weak spark, causing hard starts, uneven idling, and increased fuel consumption. Replace the spark plug at the interval recommended by the manufacturer, or sooner if you notice your scooter running less smoothly. It’s one of the cheapest maintenance jobs with immediately noticeable results.
Air filter and oil filter
A clogged air filter causes an overly rich mixture, more soot, and reduced power. The same principle applies to oil filters: a dirty filter means less effective lubrication. Both filters are standard parts of a maintenance service. Check the selection air filters for your model.
Belt and variator
The belt is one of the most critical wear parts on a CVT-driven scooter. A cracked or too loose belt can break on the road, causing breakdowns. The variator and its rollers determine how power is transmitted. Inspect belt and rollers at every major service and replace them at the prescribed interval. Check out the range of belts and variator parts.
Lubricants and engine oil
The right oil and lubrication significantly extend the life of the engine and drivetrain. Always use the viscosity and type recommended by the manufacturer. For 2-stroke scooters, use premix or separate 2-stroke oil at every refuel. For 4-stroke scooters, change the engine oil at the specified interval.
Brake fluid and brake system
Brake fluid absorbs moisture and gradually loses its properties. Replace it at the prescribed interval and check the level at every service. Combine this with an inspection of brake pads and brake discs for a fully updated brake system.
Coolant and cooling system
For water-cooled scooters, changing the coolant is part of major maintenance. Aged coolant offers less corrosion protection and reduced freeze protection. Combine the coolant change with an inspection of hoses and the level in the expansion tank.

Frequently asked questions about scooter maintenance
How often should I have my scooter serviced?
Most manufacturers recommend a major service every 3,000 to 5,000 km. Consult your model’s manual for the exact interval.
What’s included in a standard maintenance service?
At minimum, a spark plug, air filter, engine oil, and a check of brakes, tires, and lighting. A major service also includes belt, variator, and coolant.
Can I do scooter maintenance myself?
Much maintenance can be done yourself with basic tools and the right parts. Think spark plug replacement, air filter changes, and topping up brake fluid. Replacing belt and variator requires a bit more experience.
