The Toronda Brace for the Piaggio and Gilera 125 / 180cc 2 stroke

Fresh Parts

Do you drive a Piaggio or Gilera 125 to 180cc 2-stroke engine and is your setup having a hard time due to tuning, speed or nice and firm cornering? Then you especially want the crankcase and the rear to 'work' as little as possible. The Toronda Brace Piaggio and Gilera 125 to 180cc 2 stroke is there to reduce that flex and make the whole block and swingarm just a little tighter.

Below you can read what the brace does, when it really makes a difference, what to pay attention to when installing and whether it suits your build. Then you can simply order it directly.

What is the Toronda Brace and what does it do?

This Toronda brace is a reinforcement part for Piaggio and Gilera 125 to 180cc 2-stroke engine blocks. You also see it as a swingarm brace or as a TSAB engine reinforcement. Whatever you call it: it is extra support in a place where play or movement can occur more quickly with more power and load.

If the block, crankcase and suspension give just a little, you immediately feel it: the whole becomes less tight and less 'certain' in what it does. With a good brace you make that construction stiffer, so that your scooter/Runner feels firmer and responds better.

Benefits of a Toronda brace on a 125 to 180cc 2 stroke setup

You will especially notice the effect if your setup produces a lot of torque, you launch hard or drive at speed for a long time.

  • More peace and stability at the rear, because unwanted flex is limited

  • More confidence in corners and under heavy braking, because the driving behavior remains more even

  • Nice extra margin for tuned blocks that have to withstand more than standard

  • Helps to distribute the load better, which can be beneficial for the accrual in the long term

Please note: a brace is not a solution for wear and tear. If your rear feels restless, also check bearings, rubbers, mountings and the alignment of the swingarm.

Compatibility: which Piaggio and Gilera models is it intended for?

This brace is intended for Piaggio and Gilera 125 to 180cc 2-stroke engine blocks, as you often see in sporty models (many builds run on the Gilera Runner 125/180 base). The fit does depend on your block type, version and what aftermarket equipment is already installed. So compare your crankcase/swingarm with the product photos and the mounting points.

Technical specifications in practice

Toronda makes parts that are intended for 2-stroke work and serious loads. This brace is made to fit tightly and really form a rigid connection. Depending on the version, it is available with a black finish. Whether mounting material is included may vary per batch, so always check the product description and what is in the packaging upon arrival.

Do you want to combine it with other reinforcements or a sprint/circuit setup? Then take extra time for installation: working without tension is really important here, and make sure that the rest of the suspension is just top notch.

Assembly: Install Toronda brace in 7 clear steps

What do you need?

  • Basic hand tools and appropriate sockets and allen keys

  • Torque wrench for neat and controlled tightening

  • Degreaser and a clean cloth for the contact surfaces

  • Possibly medium threadlocker (depending on your use)

Step-by-step plan

  1. Place the scooter in a stable position on a bridge or trestle so that you can easily reach the block and the rear

  2. Clean the mounting points and immediately check for cracks, damage or oval holes

  3. Try on the brace “dry” first to see if everything fits without tension

  4. Install the brace in the correct order of bolts and any spacers

  5. Tighten everything hand tight first and check alignment and free movement

  6. Tighten the bolts in a controlled manner and crosswise, according to the specifications that suit your setup

  7. Take a short test drive and then check again for play and whether everything is still properly secured

Tip: don't connect anything flush, don't force it. With performance parts, the difference between 'okay' and really reliable often lies in tension-free installation.

Who is this the perfect upgrade for?

  • Riders with a sporty street setup who want a little more stability

  • Tuners with a 125 to 180cc 2-stroke engine where extra stiffness is welcome

  • Sprint and track users who value repeatable, tight driving behavior

Frequently asked questions

Does this brace always fit without adjustments?

The fit is often such that you can install it without major adjustments, but it still depends on your block type and which aftermarket parts are already installed. Check the mounting points, or let Fresh Parts take a look.

Does a brace influence street use?

You won't gain any power with a brace, but you will stiffen the rear end and add a performance part to your setup. Drive sensibly and ensure that installation and maintenance suit how you use your scooter.

Can I install this myself?

If you are used to tinkering with a Piaggio or Gilera 2-stroke engine, this is usually easy to do. If you have any doubts about alignment or tightening torques, have it installed by someone with experience.
